Arc Escapes Travel Program: The Arc Escapes program is back and has several spaces available for their upcoming trips to Springfield, Illinois, and Cincinnati, Ohio. If you have the desire to waterski, we will make it happen. The Midwest Disabled Water Ski Association (MDWSA) invites you to sign up for an amazing experience. We have plenty of adaptive water ski equipment for you to have an amazing experience. It doesn’t matter if you have never skied or ready for the Paralympics or Special Olympic athletes, we have you covered in equipment. If you are not comfortable or just don’t want to ski, that’s ok, we will have an inner tube that you can ride and we do also allow participants to ride in the boat. We bring in food trucks for a hot lunch and water and soda will be available. Bring the family, kids and neighbors and make it day. Registration is done on-line, first come first serve, with limited space.
Wilderness Inquiry, Gateway to Outdoor Adventures for People with Disabilities: Wilderness Inquiry shares the outdoors with everyone, including persons with intellectual and physical disabilities. Designed for adults with developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and other forms of cognitive disability, Gateway to Adventure (Gateway) is a program that helps people develop the skills they need to enjoy inclusive outdoor recreation activities. On Gateway trips, participants are provided support so they can learn and practice outdoor skills and social skills needed to have safe, enjoyable outdoor experiences. The goal of Gateway is to prepare individuals with cognitive disabilities to participate in integrated outdoor recreation activities, including Wilderness Inquiry’s trips, that include people with and without disabilities as peers. Trips cost $800-$1,000 depending on venue selected.
OVERNIGHT CAMPS Holding On-Site Programming in Summer 2021
Summer overnight camps are looking forward to welcoming you back to camp this summer. When registering, make sure to carefully read their COVID policies to make sure you understand modifications or changes in the way camp will be provided this year. Overnight camps are Recreation Council Voucher eligible and/or Scholarship eligible.
Sunnyhill Adventures Camp – Special Needs Adult and Youth Camps, weekly from July 4-August 27, 2021. Cost: $750-$925. Adventure awaits on over 60 scenic acres in Dittmer, Missouri. Come explore nature with activities such as: float trips, the alpine tower, climbing and rappelling, swimming, boating, or riding the zip line. Our multi-national staff hails from six continents to share stories, songs and life experiences from their homelands, providing campers with a unique cultural experience and a chance to make new friends. 636-274-9044.
Wonderland Camp – Special Needs Adult and Youth Camp for ages 6 and older and adults ages 18 and older, weekly from May 23-August 7, 2021. Cost is $850. Wonderland Camp knows everyone can benefit from quality relationships, outdoor experiences and fun places. Our Camp is committed to the individual to be as independent as they want to be with the support to be successful. Success is individual and experiences will be personalized.
Barnabas Camp – Special Needs Camp for ages 7 through adult, Weekly from May 30-August 6, 2021. Cost: $1,500. At Camp Barnabas, we invite people with special needs and chronic illnesses to embrace life as Jesus made them and to reach their fullest potential at camp. Every program and activity is adapted so each person, regardless of ability, can participate. Each week that we have is geared to a specific age range starting at age 7 and you can not age out and a set of diagnoses so that each camper is in a cabin with others similar to themselves. We match our campers up one-on-one with a volunteer so they can get the full support they need. We have a full medical facility with nurses and doctors to be able to accommodate any medical needs our campers may require. We invite you to experience the love, joy, and excitement at camp this summer.
YMCA Camp Lakewood – Inclusive Youth Camps through age 16, Weekly from May 30-August 18, 2021. Cost is $395 for mini camp and $615-$895 weeklong camps. Camp Lakewood provides a well-rounded experience for campers and gets them outdoors to connect with nature. With a 360-acre lake, over 5,000 acres of forest-covered hills, caves, creeks and more, there are many opportunities for natural exploration and experiential learning. Whether it’s campfires, swimming, archery, climbing tower, zipline, sports, canoeing, cookouts, fishing, kayaking or a multitude of camp games, every camper delights in waking up with a renewed sense of excitement as to what new activities each day at camp will bring.
Camp Wartburg – Shepherding Sheep Special Needs Mini Camp for youth (Kindergarten and older) and adults (ages 18 and older), 3-day camping experience, May 31-June 2 and June 2-5, 2021, Cost is $250. Inclusive Youth Weeklong Camps June 6-August 17, 2021. At Camp Wartburg, children become immersed in God’s awesome creation. Campers learn to shoot an arrow, canoe, swim, fish, play non-traditional games and so much more. Led by college-aged counselors, campers blossom under the supervision of positive role models, function in small groups and engage in discussions around Bible studies, values and respect for other people and nature.
Cub Creek Science Camp – Inclusive Youth Camps, weekly from May 30-August 7, 2021. Cost $1,095 (voucher eligible) Cub Creek Science Camp is the only summer camp for kids in the country with a hands-on, interactive zoo. With more than 300 animals and over 100 species, our overnight summer camp is an animal lover’s paradise. No other overnight camp can say they are an animal camp, science camp, adventure camp, vet camp, nature camp, while still offering all the traditional summer camp activities such as swimming, fishing, hiking, arts and crafts, and ropes course. Meramec Learning Ranch Camp ~ Camp for Youth on the Autism Spectrum. 2021 cost & dates are not finalized, but camp usually happens in August and costs about $900 ~ Call 1-844-424-3577 for details. Great Circle’s Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch is one of the most extensive high adventure bases in the Midwest with a high ropes course, rugged terrain, a lake, cabin camping, and plenty of outdoor opportunities. Combining outdoor with adventure activities, the Ranch helps our campers develop character, integrity, positive relationships, and make a positive impact in the world around them.

Camp Manitowa ~ Inclusive Youth Camp ~ 12770 N. High Adventure Trips: grades 9-10, $1,500. Camp Manitowa is a small private camp working to help kids (youth and teens) become their best selves. We offer water skiing, tubing, climbing wall and zipline, canoeing, sports, campfires, arts and crafts and more. We offer kids a wide variety of wonderful activities. High Adventure Camp is a week in the Smoky Mountains or Rocky Mountains. This is an inclusive camp with a camp social worker and 1:1 advocate. Nurse on site. Camp MITIOG ~ Specialized Camp, 7615 N Platte Purchase Dr, Kansas City, MO 64118 ~ www.campmitiog.org ~ Contact camp at their website. MITIOG is a week-long camp that serves children with Spina Bifida. Children participate in regular camping activities including swimming, fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, nature classes, classes on self-help medical care and evening campfires. Each child is paired with their own individual counselor who is a senior high school student, college student or older young adult. Camp MITIOG is held at Lake Doniphan Conference and Retreat Center which is located in Excelsior Springs, MO and provides a wheelchair accessible environment.

The mission of Camp Encourage is to provide youth with autism spectrum disorder meaningful experiences in which they build the knowledge, courage, and skills to be empowered participants in the community. Each camp session includes both traditional camp activities and activities tailored around the individual campers’ interests.

Camp Courage, Specialized Adult Mini Camp, Stewartsville, MO, 9201 N Campbell Ct. ~ Kansas City, MO 64155. www.campcouragemo.org ~ June 24-27, 2021 ~ Cost: $200 ~ Camp Courage is a 4-day/3-night, specialized summer camping program for adults with special needs, including Down syndrome, birth defects, cognitive delays and high functioning Autism. Campers enjoy typical camping activities such as fishing, hay wagon rides, crafts and music; as well as Bingo, dance parties and an evening of carnival game fun! This program is ideal for individuals who enjoy outdoor activities and are comfortable being away from their home environment. Participants must be able to walk, shower, dress and feed themselves independently. Participants must be cooperative, enjoy being around other people and pose no flight risk.
DASA, CampWeCanDu, Specialized camp for youth with physical and hearing disabilities, June 20-25, 2021 at Babler State Park, Wildwood, MO ~ The cost for 2021 Camp WeCanDu is $400, early bird fee is $350. www.dasasports.org/camp-wecandu. Every year, Camp WeCanDu provides an opportunity for local youth with physical disabilities to fully participate in a week-long, traditional summer camp experience full of fun activities and friendship. Children living with cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, visual impairments, and many other forms of physical disabilities come together at camp to create a fun and engaging social support system and discover natural abilities that stay with them for a lifetime. Camp WeCanDu Activities include: Archery, Arts & Crafts, Campfires, Carnival Night, Field Trips, Handcycling, Horseback Riding, Kayaking, Messy Slip-n-Slide, Rock Climbing, Swimming, Talent Show, Tree Climbing, and much more. Due to COVID precautions, limited spots will be available! Campers interested in attending camp MUST fill out a Camper Application, which does not guarantee a slot. Camp application closes April 12th and applicants will be notified April 16th if they received a slot in camp. We highly encourage the child to be involved in a DASA sport session prior to camp in order to ensure that DASA is able to provide a successful camp experience for the camper. Camp Invention: Sign up to release your inner scientist, creator, and inventor. Children in grades K-6 attend weeklong day camps, youth in grades 7-9 attend as leaders in training. This year’s programs is RECHARGE so we will play with a solar bot, do a road rally, have an open mic day, and play “duck & chuck”. All materials and kits are included. Camp Circle Star for Youth with Autism: 2021 Camp Dates: June 14-18 • June 21-25 • June 28-July2 • July 6-9 • July 12-16 • July 19-23 • July 26-30 • August 2-6 • August 9-13 (campers 19+) Cost: $350 per week. Transportation is offered at an additional cost of $50/week. We pride ourselves with being a “custom-made camp” for your child. Each child’s experience will be unique and best suited to their individual needs and desires. We provide 1:1 supervision to all our campers, so that they may explore, engage, and enjoy all the camp activities at the highest possible level. We let campers choose their own activities from many fun and exciting choices. We limit the size of our camp to about 14 campers each week, so as not to be too overwhelming for our kids. Harbor Unlimited, Camp Lighthouse, FAMILY special needs camp, all ages, May 31-June 3, 2021, Cost: $100 per person. Our family special needs disability summer day camp is nothing like the ordinary summer camp. We do crafts and water activities like other camps, in addition to horsemanship and adapted water skiing, rock climbing, tree climbing or zip-lining. This camp takes place at Strong Tower Ranch in Wright City, MO with a capstone waterski event at Lake St. Louis. Snacks, lunch, and tons of fun are provided. Camp application is due by MAY 17, 2021.

A TASK Camp CANNOT be the first activity your child participates in at TASK. He or she must have done something with TASK in the past. (i.e. a six week program). Leaps and Bounds , Therapeutic Summer Day Camps for youth with disabilities, Weekly from June 7-August 20, 2021 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Our therapeutic day camps are a great option for children who struggle in large, traditional camp programs. They are week-long learning enrichment programs that are specifically designed by an occupational therapist, to meet your child’s needs. More St. Louis County Parks Day Camps: Keep your kids’ minds and bodies active this summer with our summer camps! We have options for a variety of age levels, interests and talents. Our general day camps (Camp Kennedy, Camp Queeny and Camp Eagles Nest) offer a wide variety of activities. Kids will be involved in sports, games and many hands-on crafts and nature activities. - Neighborhood Experiences: This summer program serves St. Louis County and City Residents, ages 16 to 21 who have intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in volunteer and work experiences, achieve personal and career goals, expand their social network, and create a professional resume and portfolio. - Camp R&R: This is a weekend camping program beginning in August that serves St. Louis County residents ages 7 and older who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and high support needs. Camp Little Giant – SIU Touch of Nature Camp, in Illinois – overnight camp programs are canceled. Some day activities may occur.
Camp MoVal – Adult Special Needs Adventure Camp has been canceled for 2021, but Inclusive Youth Camp weeks are happening. Join us for traditional camp activities in a Christian environment. We have a beautiful lake, an archery range, plenty of hiking, and cabin camping. Special needs youth campers must be able to negotiate camp environment with little or no supervision.
